The "Four Treasures of the Farm" are fading out of the field

Liuji Commune was once a "typical agricultural machinery" in China ".
Lu Jinxiao, a 74-year-old tractor driver in Liuji Town, Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, was a college student tractor driver in Xinzhou. On September 17, he recalled that there were less than 10 cattle left in Liuji Commune at that time, and there were more than 100 large and small agricultural machinery such as tractors and harvesters.
Liu Ji's "success" gave birth to an amazing dream of the Republic: by 1980, the whole country will basically realize agricultural mechanization.
However, the sports-style "Liu Ji experience" has no promotion. Wu Qingfeng, director of the Provincial Agricultural Machinery Bureau, said that Liuji's mechanization was a "model" launched by the central and local financial resources under administrative orders, and the productivity at that time was far from this level.
Wu Qingfeng said that in the context of extremely cheap labor and expensive agricultural machinery, farmers will naturally choose labor rather than machines. This also confirms Marx's famous saying: "The machine can only be used if there is a difference between the value of the machine and the value of the labor it replaces".
The grand idea of "realizing agricultural mechanization in the whole country in 1980" proved to be a too advanced pursuit. In 1982, after Liuji divided the fields into households, except for walking tractors that were bought home by farmers, large and medium-sized agricultural machinery were sold as waste products.
Lv Jinxiao recalled that at that time, there were cattle grazing on the pastuds on both sides of the levees of the Jushui River in Xinzhou. "Overnight, the farmers in Liuji returned to the era when cattle were plowing by hand and carrying by shoulder."
Today, among the 13 townships in Xinzhou District, three towns, including Shuangliu, have become cattle-free towns, and there are more than 140 cattle-free villages in the region.
